Interchange station in Żory is an investment which was accomplished in 2019 in place of old bus station. The architects main purpose was to create a place, which - beside its main transport functions - will be attractive, safe and user-friendly public space. In June 2020 the interchange station in Żory was awarded the main prize in the Polish Architecture XXL 2019 Plebiscite in cubature category among public buildings. The jury has appreciated balanced proportions of the building, its modernity, lightness and openness to people. Aluminum constructions in fully glazed bus station building were created by Gral Sp. z o.o. company based on Yawal systems. The Yawal FA 50N system was used to build glass facade of the building. It is one of the best curtain wall systems available on the market, considering thermal and acoustic insulation, water tightness and wind load resistance. Opening elements of the construction was created in turn on the basis of TM 74HI system. The solution allows for creating constructions of large dimensions due to application of reinforced profiles arranged on the outside and inside.
